Sins cannot be removed by our good works
Paying the price for sin Jesus died and came back to life
Everyone who trusts in Jesus alone can have eternal life

The Question...

Did George Washington live on this earth?

How do you know?

Were you there when George Washington lived on this earth?

So really you're just trusting what the textbooks say, right?

Did Jesus live on this earth?

How do you know?

Were you there when Jesus lived on this earth?

So really you're just trusting what the Bible has to say, right?

What's the Bible say about Jesus?

                                                                                                                      What else does it say?

Are you serious?

                                                                                                                    How?

I have relationships with people that are real- that I can see and touch.  What's the point of having a relationship with someone you cannot see or touch?

I have never thought about this religious stuff as a "relationship."  What's the benefit of having a relationship with Jesus?

Is it worth it?

Can I have a relationship with Jesus right now?

What now?

Will I still mess up and make mistakes?

The Answer...

Yes

I don't know- history, textbooks, his face on the quarter...

No

I guess I'm placing a certain amount of faith that the textbooks aren't lying

I guess

I don't know...the Bible?

No

Yeah I guess someone that believes Jesus really lived here is placing a certain amount of faith in the fact that the Bible isn't lying

It says that Jesus came to this earth and that He actually died a pretty cruel death just because he loved you.

It also says that you can have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Yes

See it's like a proposal.  You know when two people want to get married, usually the man gets down on one knee and asks the lady to marry him.  Well it's like God is on His knee and the ring is Jesus.  He asks us to enter into that relationship with Him.  People who accept Jesus believe that He is the way to God.  You have to place your faith in the fact that Jesus actually did come to earth to die for you because He loved you.  Not just that, but also believing that He came back to life and now lives forever in heaven.

It's another question about faith.  I don't see your brain and I cannot touch your brain, but I'm placing a certain amount of faith in the fact that you do have a brain.

The benefits are awesome.  You can go through life not being an owner of your life but rather a manager.  You have God as the owner and someone to rely on whatever the circumstances are in life.  Also the Bible says that you can live forever in heaven with Jesus.

Totally

Sure. It's as simple as A.B.C.  First Admit that you are a sinner (that you are not perfect).  Only God is perfect and sin has separated us from God.  Secondly, Believe that Jesus Christ is God's son and that He came to bridge that gap sin has made between us and God.  He did that by dying for your sins on a cross and rising from the dead.  Thirdly, Commit your life to the Lord.  Live to please Him.  The Bible tells you how you can live for Him.  If you got married you would definitely want to please your spouse.  So now please God.

I would suggest getting a Bible.  There are some awesome Bibles out there.  It is an instruction manual on how to live life.  It's sort of like putting something together without the manual.  A lot of people try to do things on there own and not read the instructions.  It's a lot easier when you live life the way the Bible says.  I would also find a good church home.  There you can find encouragement.  People go through a lot of the same stuff and you can find great wisdom and teaching from other Christians.  I would also tell somebody about this decision you made.  They can pray for you.

Of course.  This side of heaven we will always make mistakes.  The question is are we trying to live our life so that it is pleasing to God.  We really must check our motives.  We should hand over all habits to the Lord.  He can help us get rid of any habitual sin.
